To start a business in Singapore, one needs to register the business with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). There are 5 types of entities to choose from: Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Limited Partnership, Limited Liability Partnership and Private Limited Company. Most entrepreneurs prefer setting up a Private Limited Company. 

To set up a Company, one needs to have the following:

  1. Minimum 1 Shareholder
  2. 1 Local Resident Director
  3. A Local Registered Office Address
  4. $1.00 Paid-Up Capital
  5. Primary Activity (Please refer to Singapore Standard Industrial Classification SSIC to obtain the most suitable activity for the business.)
  6. A Company Secretary (Must be appointed within 6 months from date of incorporation.)
